Hello from Tenerife. We are still in Tenerife and will return to the US on April first. I look forward to attend a reenactment of the crucifixion of Jesus on Good Friday in Adeje and spend Easter Sunday with our son and his family.
I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have ever lasting life.
So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord— the King of Israel!”
The Plot to Kill Jesus
Now the festival of Unleavened Bread, which is called the Passover, was near. The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to put Jesus to death, for they were afraid of the people.
Then Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was one of the twelve; he went away and conferred with the chief priests and officers of the temple police about how he might betray him to them. They were greatly pleased and agreed to give him money. So he consented and began to look for an opportunity to betray him to them when no crowd was present.
The Institution of the Lord’s Supper
When the hour came, he took his place at the table, and the apostles with him. He said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I tell you, I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; for I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” Then he took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” And he did the same with the cup after supper, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood. But see, the one who betrays me is with me, and his hand is on the table. For the Son of Man is going as it has been determined, but woe to that one by whom he is betrayed!” Then they began to ask one another which one of them it could be who would do this.
Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. And the soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they dressed him in a purple robe. They kept coming up to him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and striking him on the face. Pilate went out again and said to them, “Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no case against him. Then he handed him over to them to be crucified.
The Crucifixion of Jesus
So they took Jesus; and carrying the cross by himself, he went out to what is called The Place of the Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha. There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, with Jesus between them. Pilate also had an inscription written and put on the cross. It read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.”
The Resurrection of Jesus
After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And suddenly there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. For fear of him the guards shook and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead, and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.’ This is my message for you.” So they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came to him, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”
Christ is Risen, yes, Christ is risen indeed, and this makes all the difference. Because He is risen, we also are invited to become sons and daughters of our Lord. He allows us to dwell in His Love.
“Jesus remember me, when you come into your Kingdom”
The painting above I created to share with all of you as I meditated on the empty tomb. Stay with the painting for a while and allow the Lord to speak to you through my painting. It will slowly unfold before your eyes. Allow the peace of the Lord to fill you before you enter into this meditation. Maybe you will be at awe like I am when I enter into this meditation. Sit back, relax and enjoy His presence. I always thank the Lord for His Gift.
The sunrise pictures where taken by a friend as he biked to the Sunrise in Tenerife. It is beautiful. From where we live on the Island we see the sun set but not rise. It is a Gift from our Lord. The sun will rise and set for all of us.
Then Jesus spoke to them again saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
Lord, please help us all who dwell in your light and love to share it with all those we encounter, and help the world to become a better place for all. Let this Easter be an Epiphany for all of us.
Happy Easter to all of you.
